My Babies

It's funny some times when you consider the things that you "can't wait for", Almost puts me in mind of the phrase "Be Careful What You Wish For You Just Might Get It". I Love my children and all of their accomplishments, but some times I miss my babies. I loved the infant stage when they would sleep on you for hours or just being in your arms made there crying stop. At the infant stage I also longed for just a few minutes to myself. I remember the toddler stage with my daughter and wishing that she could talk to me and tell me what she nee

Nicknames to Grow on

I am realizing that the older the children get, the nicknames that I have given them seem to change. I want to make note of them so that I won't forget what they were.
As as infant I called Laci peeker and squeaker, as a toddler I called her Pooh Bear and Doodle Doo. Now that Laci is 3 I am calling her Baby Doll, Beauty and Pooh Bear.
Daniel's nicknames have changed as well, as a infant I called him snorticus and Skreech, as he got older I called him Bam Bam and B'boy, now I call him Handsome Boy, Baby Man and Stink Bomb. Most of the nicknames they were

Big Man

Today my baby boy turned 1 year old and I am so happy for him. Daniel is such a happy baby and he has a great sense of humor. Daniel is already loosing that baby look and gaining the little boy look. I will miss my baby but I will enjoy my little boy, after all he will always be my baby. Anyway he is growing up so fast as he has an incredible teacher, his idol, big sister Laci. He loves to be where ever she is, do what ever she is doing, and touch the toys that she is playing with, this is not always the ideal situation for Laci. In any case Daniel is very loving and gives fantastic, warm baby squeeze hugs that just melt you away. Daniel looks more and more like my dearly departed mother each day. He has her eyes and some times when I look at him I can see my mom in his face. Daniel's sense of humor is also very much like my mother's, as well as his loving looks. I am sure that she is guarding Daniel and Laci lovingly from above. At any rate Happy Birthday Big Man, I Love You!

Baby Boy

My baby boy is growing up too. Daniel is a very funny baby and it is easy to make him laugh, plus Daniel like to make other's laugh too. I love to listen to Daniel's laugh, it is hysterical. Daniel's laugh sounds like a screech being inhaled, while the whole time he sport's a huge grin. You have to laugh with him when he does this. Daniel is almost 1year old, he weights 25lbs and he crawls at the speed of light. Daniel says several words, makes funny faces and can imitate most noises he hears. Daniel is not a quiet child, even when he has his pacifier in, he still makes a good bit of noise.

Funny Feeling

Daniel has been doing something very cute lately. He now has two teeth on the bottom row and he has discovered that when he rubs his tongue across them it feels either strange or he likes it. Frequently when you look at Daniel he will have his tongue slightly sticking out of his mouth because he is rubbing the bottom of his tongue across the bottom two teeth. It is adorable to watch and you can tell that he is deep in thought.

My Alarm Clock

In the morning I don't need to set an alarm clock unless I plan to get up before 7am. Laci is my alarm clock most days, Laci's usual routine is that when she wakes up she will come into mommy and daddy's room. If it is a work day for daddy then Laci will crawl into daddy's side of the bed and make herself comfortable. Most days Laci will wake me just by her coming into the room but I will let her crawl into bed anyway. Often times after she gets comfortable she will say to me "mommy hand" which means that Laci wants to hold my hand while we are laying in bed waking up. How can you not wake up with a smile on your face when this happens. However this morning she melted my heart. As usual she had climbed into bed and made herself comfortable when she realized that she needed her stuffed Pooh Bear. Keep in mind that Laci has two favorite Pooh Bears that are exactly the same that she cuddles with every night. Laci climbed back into bed, got comfortable, rolled toward me and said "for you mommy" as she tucked a Pooh Bear under my chin. I thought it was the ultimate cuteness for Laci to have brought a Pooh Bear for me too. Laci is so loving and has such a caring heart, I hope that is something that she is able to keep sight of as she grows up.

Baby Monitor

Unfortunately, I don't remember the date this first happened and it has happened several times since the first time I witnessed it. When Daniel takes a nap up in his room, I will turn on the baby monitor so that I can hear him. Well When Laci is around the monitor and Daniel wakes up, she too can hear him through the monitor. The humorous point is that Laci does not realize that we can only hear Daniel through the monitor. Laci will pick up the monitor listening device and put it to her ear, then she puts it to her mouth and will say "D-eal (Daniel), D-eal, It's ok

My Big Girl

I am saddened some times by how quickly Laci is growing up. I am excited about her accomplishments and eager to watch her learn new things, but at the same time that means that my little baby is growing up. I was not ready for her to move out of her crib and into a big girl bed, but she was ready at 22 months. Laci gave up her bottle before she was one year old, she has given up her pacifier, she is doing great at potty training. Laci has also moved into a big girl booster seat in the car. It just seems like she is making so many strides so quickly and growin

Differences Continued

As I give subjects more thought, I remembered more differences in my children. When I was pregnant with Laci I had food aversions to many things. As a general I have unusual cravings, however when I was pregnant with Laci my cravings became bland. As an example one of my normal breakfasts is a bagel & cream cheese with crushed sour cream & onion potato chips sprinkled on top; this is a favorite. When I carried Laci I could not even stomach the thought of this; along with the thought of eating Chinese food. Also when I carried Laci I did have a few cravings, they were chips w/ ranch dip, cheese Doritos, Chocolate with caramel inside, and salad from one particular restaurant.

Similarities

I had noted before the more than obvious differences in our children, however since then I have noticed several similarities as well. When Laci was an infant she used to tug on her left ear when she was tired, that was my warning that she would need a nap soon. I had forgotten about this until Daniel started doing the same thing and I came across a picture of Laci where she doing it. When I saw that Daniel would tug on his ears and then go to sleep I remembered that Laci did it too. Yes I am sure that it is a sleep indicator, Laci never had an ear infection until recently and though Daniel has had a few ear infections, he continues this habit when he is well.

Differences

I realize that all children are different and that they each have their own unique qualities, however I always thought that siblings shared more in common. I have come to realize that Laci and Daniel are very similar, yet very different. To explain more of my thought process I will say this, one obvious difference is that one is girl and the other is boy, the difference there is obvious.

When Laci was a baby formula really messed with her stomach, the one that was the worst on her stomach was Enfamil. She threw up more than she was able to keep down. Other formulas had a similar effect except for Nestles Good Start, Laci did very well on this brand and that is what I always used for her. So logically when Daniel was born I started him on the Good Start as well, because that is what was best for Laci. However this was not the case for Daniel, after much trial and error it turns out that Daniel does best on Enfamil and the other brands upset his stomach terribly.

Remember when.....

This evening as daddy and I were looking through Laci's baby photo album, I discovered something I had not realized before. When Laci was a baby she would rub her left ear when she started to get tired. There was one picture of her and her papa where she was rubbing her ear that reminded me of this old habit. As Laci grew older she grew out of this habit and apparently it was something that I did not remember until seeing this picture. I have a conscious awareness that when Daniel is tired he will start by rubbing his left ear and then mo
