First Day Of Kindergarten
Today was Laci's first day of kindergarten and she was so excited. Laci has always wanted to be like the "big kids" and now she finally was. Laci has also had a great desire to ride a school bus for several years now and today she would get her chance. Last night when I put Laci to bed, I could tell that she was very excited about going to school. We picked out her outfit, set her alarm clock and discussed what she would need to do when she woke up. Apparently Laci had a hard time going to sleep because at 4:00am she came and asked to sleep in bed with mommy and daddy. We accommodated Laci because we knew she needed her sleep, especially today. Laci did go to sleep and woke again shortly before 7:00am raring to go. Needless to say, time would not pass fast enough for Laci this morning, she was ready to go. As we left our house to go to the bus stop, Laci could hardly contain herself. Thankfully it is a short walk because Laci wanted to run. Laci was ecstatic to see all of the other kids from the neighborhood that she knew, waiting for the same bus that she was going to get on. Of course there were kids and parents at the bus stop, that we did not know, so Laci made sure to introduce herself and inform every one that she was going to kindergarten today! Then Laci began to sing and chat with anticipation. Laci got a little nervous when she saw the bus come over the hill, but not nervous enough to disway her at all from getting on it. It took a while to get on the bus as there were a lot of children and kindergarten kids had assigned seats close to the bus driver. I know that Laci will do fine, even though I could see that she was nervous. Yes, mommy cried as the bus drove away, my baby went to school today and I will miss her. I look forward to her return to hear all about her day.
When Laci returned from school, I could not have received a warmer greeting. Laci Shouted "MOMMY" happily as she jumped into a huge tight hug. Of course before exiting the bus, Laci stopped the line of children to personally wave/say goodbye to the bus driver and wait for her to respond. Laci had a great day and I believe that she was a bit tired. I asked Laci many questions about her day and for the first time in her life she was not in the mood to have a conversation. Laci informed me that after dinner she would tell me about her day at kindergarten. Instead Laci wanted to lay down on the couch with her head on my lap. After a short time of relaxation, Laci began to give details of her day. It seemed that she had a great day and that she was very busy. Laci revealed that she did get into a little bit of trouble, but after a few tears and more effort, she was able to make a full recovery. All in all Laci loved her teacher and has decided that she wants to have only this teacher forever. Mommy and daddy were very happy that Laci had a great day and that she was eager to return to school the next day.
